A day with the master - An interactive workshop with Dr. Dinanath Pathy
January 26, 2016 I Utsha Foundation For Contemporary Art, VR-39, Bhubaneswar, Odisha
Artist: Dinanath Pathy
A Jawaharlal Nehru Fellow and a contemporary painter and art historian, Dr Dinanath Pathy has achieved national and international fame. He was also a poet and novelist who pioneered a new genre of art fiction in Odia. He collaborated with Eberhart Fischer on several art history and art ethnological projects for the last thirty years.
This day long workshop at Utsha Foundation was an attempt to bring together this eminent art personality and young art students in a non-traditional, unmoderated and casual setting. The format allowed a breaking down of traditional reserve and hierarchy that often affect interactions between a senior teacher/artist and students. The students asked many questions on art, inspiration and areas to focus on with complete freedom and benefited from answers drawn from Dr. Pathy's knowledge and vast experience. Needless to say, all participants enjoyed the format immensely and many interesting questions were fielded and discussed.
