Sonam Chaturvedi

Sonam Chaturvedi is a visual artist based in Baroda. She holds a Master’s in Visual Arts from Shiv Nadar University Delhi and a Bachelor’s in Visual Arts with specialization in Sculpture from MS University, Baroda. In her own words her work ‘derives from my writings, and is translated from text to visual poetry. The writings are daily observations of the surroundings as well as self-observations. There are many strands evolving from the same root, a centrifugal journey. Time, the fleeting present, absurdity of life, gathering the reminiscence of daily life, observations from the monotonous, all these ideas compose the present body of work which though eclectic, falls on a common ground. I’ve used various mediums to stage these ideas: video, sound, immersive environments, artists’ books, drawing and found objects.’ Her work has been exhibited in the following group shows: 2016 ‘Imagined Futures Reconstructed Pasts’ curated by Meera Menezes, presented by Anant Art gallery at Bikaner House, New Delhi. 2016 MFA group show of Shiv Nadar University, Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts, Noida. 2013 Alternative Photography Show at Printmaking Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara. 2013 ‘Shoonya’, Group show at the Exhibition Hall, Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara
